Thought I'd start this thread as a service to GZ users in Tauranga.

Today the latest address data from UFF was sent to RSPs. It's updated once, sometimes twice a month.

Based on the addresses in the database, the UFF build in Tauranga is approx 38% complete.

We've updated our address checker so you can see if the Ready-For-Service date at your address has changed (the RFS dates can be quite fluid).

http://www.fullflavourmedia.co.nz/services/ultra-fast-fibre-broadband-tauranga

(Of course we're not the only RSP that you can check for service on, but there could be a delay between todays release being sent to RSPs and the RSP you want to check service on having run the update).

My mother-in-law yesterday said there was a suspicious cable looking trunk in her street yesterday. Guess it's you.. :-)

From Tauranga

Had UFB installed in end June (Mount Area).

They used their trenching tool to push a hole under my lawn then popped up by the house took about 45 min to push the hole.

Running cables and connecting took the rest of the day.

Signed up with KINECT (Trust Power) (what a let-down - avoid at all costs) with a 30 10 plan.

I was expecting a reasonable down load speed but turned out to be worse that my DSL speed ( speed test showed fine 30 / 10) but in reality the download speeds of an actual downloads were worse than my work dsl connection and previous dsl.

Then there was issues with the Phone as well which they were very slow to resolve – over a month.

I spent about 6 -8 hours  on the phone to their support trying to get this resolved and untrained staff (putting it nicely) on the other end may it very difficult to get anywhere .

I would steer away from KINECT (Trust power) at all costs and soon as my break out period is over I will be moving away to a local provider (KINECT is supported from Omaru)

Just letting you all know what you can expect and you can laugh when you see their bill boards as it’s a lie.

FYI VDSL seems to be providing similar download speeds to the 30/10 fibre connections.

ISP have done some work on the back end and the speeds seem to have improved at present.

I have a UFF connection with KINECT, and was really happy with the install, set up and the performance. I don't use their phone services so can't comment on that.
I am on a 100/50 plan, the cost is less than my 8m/<1m DSL connection I had with them for more data.

And I get great speeds, I reformatted one of my mac computers, and DL'd a 4gig OS installer DMG in less than 5 minutes.
Speed tests are in excess of what is promised and KINECT to KINECT is fast.

to a Trustpower server.

We've just updated the fibre address checker at http://fullflavour.co.nz/ultra-fast-broadband/tauranga for the Tauranga area, with the latest data from Ultrafast Fibre.

A lot of construction being done this month in Bethlehem & Tauriko areas. If you're in one of those two suburbs, and you've seen recent work in the street, expect it to be service ready from 1st of July.

As of today, Ultrafast Fibre are 57% of the way through the Tauranga UFB build, with over 95% of the build to be completed by the end of 2015.

EDIT: Added in build completion info.

I'm not fixed to any one ISP or provider, I shop around for a good deal - with every service I use. And don't pay retails rates on pretty much any product for that reason.
