Hi

I'm after dark fibre to link two sites in the CBD and I see that as part of UFB Chorus are required to do a dark fibre product which looks very affordable.

How can I get in touch with Chorus about this? I know normally i'd go through an ISP but this doesn't seem to me to be something an ISP is going to be much help with? And i'd rather not have the extra complications of going through an intermediary if I can avoid it.

Is there any way to deal with Chorus directly?

Chorus likes selling fibre, it is how we make money !!!
There is some misunderstanding around Chorus' inability to deal with some inquiries that come our way. With the demerger of Chorus from Telecom,  Chorus was not to have "retail" customers.  For more detail check out http://www.comcom.govt.nz/regulated-industries/telecommunications/register-of-chorus-non-retail-users/ .
If you think you qualify as a telco/RSP under the regulations send your details, together with an indication of what services you wish to purchase to web@chorus.co.nz and we can get a Business Developoment Manager to give you a call.
Our Bus Dev folks may put you in touch with our customers who already offer the services you are seeking via their own "wholeale" channels.
There are a couple of previous posters who are offering to do this for you, make contact with them.

Did you happen to mention "which" CBD you are referring to? Auckland? Christchurch? Dannevirke?

could probably run your own dark fiber between CBD premises in Dannevirke.  chorus might even have some spare 10 meter lengths lying around ..... ;)

Chorus have a bit of a fibre shortfall in the Auckland area for dark fibre.

For some reason, they didn't see it being so popular, even though Telcos and business has been gagging for dark fibre for many many years.
