You will never be able to use your own hardware as it is provisioned and managed by Chorus.
So you will always have a LFC supplied ONT of some type or another.

2) Nothing stopping an ISP putting together a product that uses the UFB network of fibre but placing their own hardware at either end. We do this when linking locations in our core network and are likely to take this approach to connect clients at gigabit (or more) speeds next year.
