Guys,

I'm shortly moving to a VDSL-covered area and am wondering which ISPs can provide both VDSL and IPv6 in Auckland?

So far I know of two:

WXC - currently have their ADSL and IPv6 since the trial many years ago. However their VDSL offerring seems quite expensive. Also I'm not sure if the required MP264 modem properly supports IPv6 (i.e. firewalling, routing for multiple internal /64s, etc) - their helpdesk person apparently heared about IPv6 for the first time when I called, not overly assuring.
Snap - better price but apparently the customer's IPv6 allocation isn't static and changes every day (yes I asked twice if they're serious..)

I don't care about voip offering that much but a working, stable v6 is a must. Who else does that on VDSL?

You could probably use a different router than the MP264 with WXC, particularly if you didn't want to use VoIP, although most people seem pretty happy with performance etc.

I seem to recall some recent rumblings of changes from snap which will improve the situation re: v6 IP addresses...

I don't think Unleash can provide IPv6 on DSL yet. I will email and ask

I have Snap VDSL with native IPv6. Not sure what you mean by changes every day?
The prefix is dynamic. It will only change if your PPP reconnects. Apparently they'll be able to offer static prefixes soon.
I can understand how it'd be annoying if you were wanting to host things on v6 without a static prefix though.

This is what I mean (answer from Snap Helpdesk): Currently we hand out a huge /48, but these do change every 24hrs, so your dynamic internal clients IPv6 addresses would change. If you are setting your clients with static IPv6 addresses then this would indeed be problematic, or should I say, very inconvenient. We are working on static IPv6 addresses and hope to have this implemented very soon, although we don't have a confirmed date just yet.

Because I need the internal IPv6 hosts accessible from outside and also have some remote firewalls open to my home IPv6 range I need it to be static.

As I said. It won't change unless your PPP reconnects. This has been my experience.
But yes, I understand why you want a static prefix. :)

I wouldn't hold my breath on Snap giving out static IPv6 prefixes, they've been saying Real Soon Now for years and years.
If Unleash don't do it, you're out of luck, I think XNet stopped doing their ipv6 trial a while ago. :( (I had it on ADSL with them on a Cisco 877.)
