Naked DSL is still many months away (Telecom said 16 months a week or two back).

Depending on where you live, you can also look at TelstraClear Cable or Wireless.

If you post some further details, somebody may be able to help.

OK, so wireless won't be an option then (on account of both your location and the heavy usage).

Wellingtonians:  Does TCL cable extend out as far as Titahi Bay?

If not, then you are going to have to bite the bullet and install a phone line Money mouth

No, sadly not.  Johnsonville is as far north as it goes, I think.

See I don't get that. Why does it take so long for telecom to prevent me from making any calls on my landline and at the same time stop charging me for it???? I don't even use my landline. and I want to put that $$ in to a better broadband plan. Yell

You do realise that naked DSL wont simply be a case of "ditch the landline and pay the same amount all along for your broadband"... your extra money that you want pour into a 'better' broadband plan may simply be swallowed up in naked DSL plan offering not much more value than your existing one...

Yep. The industry seems to be expecting Naked DSL to come out at a cost of about $65/month - better than FS/FS at $42/month and Wholesale voice at about $42/month, but not that much better.

And your provider will need to provide the voice service, which although provided on an antiquated technology at Telecom at least works and is reliable....
