I am looking for broadband-only options for a property at Waikanae Beach on the Kapiti coast.

The property will be used for 2-3 days most weeks. We don't require a land line, just want broadband. Because we are not there permanently, I reckon about 20-30GB of data per month should be sufficient.

The best deal I can find is Telecom at $55 pm for 80GB (compared with $85pm/80GB vodafone, Slingshot $81pm/30GB, Orcon $75pm/30GB).

Thing is, I don't need 80GB, but can't find anything cheaper than Telecom at 80GB.

Is there anything out there I have missed?

Snap naked ADSL is $70/mo with a 50GB cap.

Flip could also be one to check out. www.flip.co.nz

That $55 Telecom plan requires you to have a monthly mobile plan with Telecom. Vodafone also offer a similar discount on their naked DSL plans.

Unfortunatley the market is against you.

The target demographic for dry loop / naked dsl is us 20-somethings that use high amounts of data and no landline. Also the minimum costs of the copper loop still need to be maintained so if you dont have a telephone line, the high percentage of the telephone fee goes into the copper loop maintanence itself so that fee gets included into the price of a naked broadband connection to cover it.

This is why the typical price is $60+

Bigpipe. Free until the end of March, $79/mo for unlimited thereafter. You do however need to provide your own modem.

Have you checked what the cable pricing is these days? Plans were starting at $55 from memory last year.

Would Cable broadband of the naked variety suit you? 80GB For $65 - you'd need someone with a Vodafone mobile for the discount price

Vodafone ADSL is the same price as Telecom if you have a qualifying mobile ($30 discount) at $55 for 80 GB.
