I do not currently pay for wiring maintenance with Telecom (my ISP/phone provider), as such I want to try and ensure I have checked all possibilities before allowing Chorus access to the house to test the line internally.

I do not have a demarc box, just the black line coming into the underside of the house.

There is a small flat 6? way cable management box, where the demarc cable goes inside, joins with the xdsl splitter, and I have one cat5/6 cable coming out.

This cable runs to the office, where it splitts to one dedicated xdsl jack and one BT jack.

I currently have no dial tone, the cordless phone has a message telling me to check my line.
I have tried an analogue phone, no dial tone.
Both analogue and cordless work fine on SPA3102.
I have tried two different BT to RJ11 cables.
When I have the cordless speaker phone on, and I plug the BT end into the jack, I do get a 'clicking' noise. (If that is noteworthy?)
My VDSL connect is still up and working no problems.

Almost 2 weeks ago my landline was crossed with another at the exchange, apart from receiving the test call when it was fixed, I do not know if the landline has been used since.

I have taken a quick look at the demarc/splitter and it looks ok, the scotch locks are still in place, and the cables were as they were when VDSL was installed 5-6 months ago.

Any suggestions on where to next?

I would guess that your POTS line is disconnected back in the exchange possibly related to the earlier fault. The cordless is reacting to the lack of voltage across line. If you dial the POTS number do you get Ring Tone or Busy?

Sorry I forgot to add that, I called it from my mobile, it rings for one minute then disconnects. The answerphone is built into the cordless.
I've already reported the fault to Telecom, they could find no fault with their remote test.

If you plug your analogue phone into your data jack and get through from your mobile it would point to the filter being faulty.

Cut phone feed from xDSL splitter, then see if you get dial tone when you plug phone into VDSL socket.

If you have a multimeter, check to see if you have 50volts at the point where black cable connects to the orange/white wires on the xdsl splitter.  To get an accurate test for your internal wiring, disconnect those wires at that point and test if you have 50volts back to the Telephone Exchange by testing the wires at the end of the black cable.  You would need to reconnect the wires together and the best way is by scotchlocks or you can solder and tape.

If you want to give that a try, PM me and I will post you out some scotchlocks to reconnect permanently.

I forgot to add, if you have no voltage, you have no phone service....  contact your service provider and they will have Chorus fix your issue.

Plugged phone into VDSL socket , now I have lost my VDSL connection. Does not appear to be authenticating.
I have the stock Telecom TG589vn, DSL passes, ATM fails.
Broadband light is on, Internet light is off.

Edit:
I have reported the fault again, this time adding the fact that the VDSL is also down. They have advised it is due to there being no resistance on my line. And I was misinformed about it being an internal wiring fault.

Bummer, OP killed his VDSL after advice from coffeebaron. Quick delete this thread before this incriminating evidence is found :)

Don't rush to take the blame. "I've already reported the fault to Telecom, they could find no fault with their remote test." If Telecom didn't put so much faith in their random result generator it would have been their problem earlier.

My ADSL modem seems to take its own sweet time to bring up the Internet light. Maybe rscole86's VDSL modem works to the same rules.

The VDSL connection came back up, after an hour or so, before going down again.
It is currently up, but still no phone line.

Usually my modem is back up within 2 minutes or so.

Resolved, chorus came to visit while I was at work, left a card saying it was fixed and to text them if there was any problems.
