I do not currently pay for wiring maintenance with Telecom (my ISP/phone provider), as such I want to try and ensure I have checked all possibilities before allowing Chorus access to the house to test the line internally.
I do not have a demarc box, just the black line coming into the underside of the house.
There is a small flat 6? way cable management box, where the demarc cable goes inside, joins with the xdsl splitter, and I have one cat5/6 cable coming out.
This cable runs to the office, where it splitts to one dedicated xdsl jack and one BT jack.
I currently have no dial tone, the cordless phone has a message telling me to check my line.
I have tried an analogue phone, no dial tone.
Both analogue and cordless work fine on SPA3102.
I have tried two different BT to RJ11 cables.
When I have the cordless speaker phone on, and I plug the BT end into the jack, I do get a 'clicking' noise. (If that is noteworthy?)
My VDSL connect is still up and working no problems.
Almost 2 weeks ago my landline was crossed with another at the exchange, apart from receiving the test call when it was fixed, I do not know if the landline has been used since.
I have taken a quick look at the demarc/splitter and it looks ok, the scotch locks are still in place, and the cables were as they were when VDSL was installed 5-6 months ago.
Any suggestions on where to next?
