Chorus are coming to my house to install fibre on Thursday.  Is there anything I specifically should be aware of or ask for?  Any gotcha's and the like?

Orcon is my ISP but I don't know if this makes a difference to my questions above, hence why I didn't post this in the Orcon forum.

Think about where you want the external box and the fiber modem thingy to go. Be there so you can check what they're planning to do in advance. That's about it AFAIK.

I am working from home to supervise the install.  It is a multi dwelling residence so they will run the cable from an access point already installed in the shared garage to my unit somehow.  I have a dumb waiter in my place so the obvious termination point inside my house is to where the dumbwaiter stops.  The existing phone line is on an outside wall about 10m away from the dumb waiter.  I do have Ethernet cable run from that point to the dumb waiter so I could ask the tech to run the fibre along side that cable (through the ceiling) but I'm not sure how much internal work they do like that?

My fiber comes in overheat, goes down the side of the house, up through a conduit into the ceiling space, then down into the top of a wardrobe cupboard. They seemed happy to do that.

Make sure they don't remove your existing copper.

Thanks.  I'm in a multi dwelling complex (townhouses) so they wouldn't have removed the copper from the road to the central junction in our garage (otherwise my existing service would have stopped).  I'll make sure they don't remover the copper from my townhouse though (which I'm sure would be a major effort to do).

Cheers.
