Hello Can Any One Help Me, Recently My ADSL 502T Router/Modem Has Had Some Problems Which Is Really Annoying And P33ING Me Off Every Time Im ON The Net The ADSL Act/Link Light Starts To Flicker And Disconnect My Internet It Happens Every Time, (ADSL 502T From Xtra Broadband)
Yes i have, i've put in one for my telephone and sky, and one filter for my net, i've also tried just putting the router and the adsl cable to the telephone without the net going and the still thing happens the adsl light flickers could it be the telephone and sky interrupting or just a fault in my phone lines ( this has happened around 5 months ago is well but stopped now it has came back again?)
I am a little unclear on some of the things you have said - so my apologies if you have already done anything I am about to suggest.
First - unplug everything plugged into your phone line EXCEPT the DSL502T. If the problem persists at least you will know it is not other equipment or filters you have - it is either your wiring, dodgy phone jacks, Telecoms line into your house, a dodgy DSL502T or Telecoms DSLAM hardware (at the exchange).
Call Xtra (NOT Telecom) and report the problem. They will issue a warning that if it is not their problem they will bill you but dont let this put you off. They might first offer you a free replacement modem/router or they will send a tech. The Tech is always a subcontractor and in my experience they will give a fair assessment of your wiring and Telecom pairs back to the Exchange and the DSLAM.
I had problems with sessions being dropped frequently. Xtra replaced my 502G with a 504T (which I still have) and this did not fix the problem. Techs came out twice, once to wire in a splitter (eliminates the need for filters but requires a dedicated connection point for the 502T) - made things better but still not acceptable. They then swapped pairs back to the exchange (fixed the problem). The whole thing took months but cost me nothing.
So - lodge that call, put up with the help desk people without getting angry, and persist. Keep a record of the various 'ticket numbers' so when you call Xtra for the second and subsequent times you can quote the current number.
