Got a customer keen to connect to ADSL.

He's a bit rural (up Pyes Pa / Kaimais, 30 minutes drive from Tauranga CBD) and it looks like there are quite a few people waiting for service there:

42 Broadband Waiters at LWC; Longest Waiter 877 Days

42 (make that 43!) seems like quite a lot?

Anyone from Chorus like to comment?

Flick me the address. Possibly RBI wireless will be the solution.

Chorus will probably say its not viable. Tell them to increase the population density in that area to the point where getting services is viable.

That's a few waiting. I came across something one who waited over 1000 days and the connection is extremely congested.

Are they in one of the areas up there that's getting RBI? There look to be a number of new cabinets going in covering some fairly large areas.

Sounds as if it is a Conklin - so not worth waiting for a connection.

Definitely a few cabinets going in around the Kaimai's, but without an approx address, hard to answer. I would say a Conklin or DSLAM with close to 50 waiters has certainly got a higher chance of being on an upgrade list though.

Not surprised. I'm waiting to be connected for about a month in Johnsonville, Wellington. And this is basically in the middle of big suburb.

Totally different issue.

Johnsonville won't have a port waiter issue. There have been delays of 2-3 weeks in Wellington for xDSL installs due to a massive backlog of work, particularly VDSL2 installs. I'm not aware of these still occurring now.

This customer can't get a connection because there are no ports available.

According to our upgrade plans, the waiter issue will be resolved within the next year.  RBI Cabinet: Available by Jun-2015.

Maybe Mobile Broadband is an option in the interim?
