My partner has a new job with Telecom, So we have switched from xnet to xtra.
Our desktop is connected to a dlink 502t and a netgear wrg614 router. Since changing isp's. We have noticed that the laptop can only access some sites. Like trademe for example. But I cant load up the ANZ homepage. Firefox says "Server not found Firefox can't find the server at www.anz.co.nz" Any ideas how I can fix this? any help would be great

I would say either the router, or your laptop has a badly configured DNS IP address...

You will need to check the router configuration, by accesing the router's configuation web page (instructions in the manual or someone else could post here, since I don't have this router).

Also you will have to check you laptop's configuration, by right-clicking Network | Properties then checking the TCP/IP properties for the connection.

Its for that very reason I have 'tripple redundancy'

Connection with Xtra, but 2 different ISP DNS servers :) That way if 1 of the 3 go down (with exception of radius login issues) it still lives.

Can be faster too.

http://www.siliconlogic.co.nz/isps.htm has a reasonably good list of the login/DNS details

ANZ can be a bit of a pain .. they use dynamic TCP window sizes and this causes a number of issues.

Quite often when there is an MTU transmission problem (eg no larger than 1500 allowed) then the page wont load... and this is only on certain websites such as www.anz.co.nz etc :)

All sorted now. It was a DNS server problem.
