Oh Chorus why does it have to be this way :-(

Moved into an apartment 1 Sept. Was told it already had UFB installed but that is another discussion.

Was then told the building would be ready by Friday 12 Sept.

Received notice from my ISP of install date of Tue 16 Sept.

On 16 Sept nobody turns up. Call ISP who just had notice that more building work needed.

Back to landlord who says that work will be done before Wed 24 Sept.

Call ISP on 23 Sept and told yes there is an appointment for the install on Wed 1 Oct.

Today get an email from the ISP that due to a provisioning error by Chorus the install date has been delayed until Wed 7 Oct.

Dear Chorus - What provisioning error? From what I can see something went wrong and I have been pushed to the end of the queue and have to wait another week. Why? Is that really the first time you can come here.  Why not push someone else out of their appointment time as I have already been waiting too long.

All the ISP will/can say is "Yeah sorry that is what Chorus tell us. There is nothing more we can do"

Oh Chorus why does it have to be this way :-(
Very poor service on your part.

Rant over. You can return to your normal lives now. Thanks for watching :-)

I assume the Chorus installers are overloaded at the moment. I placed a request for UFB on the 6th of August, and it's not yet complete for me. I am in a stand alone house on a cross lease section. I have had two site visits by chorus so far. Both outside only. One to survey how to get fiber down the driveway, and another to actually put it down (they put it in existing conduit). hoping the actual (Indoor) install will not be to far away.

Interestingly my UFB installer in Dunedin said they were finding it hard to bill the amount of hours they have to bill everyday as there was so little work on.

Right now if you live in a MDU it's safe to assume an install will be anywhere from 1 month to 12+ months (or no ETA at all). That is the simple reality of dealing with the complexities of MDUs.

That's because very little of Dunedin has access to or is going to get access to UFB :)

UFB installs take time, sometimes days, weeks, or many months. Despite any promises you get have a backup plan and don't count on UFB until it's actually working. Mine took 6 months to install, into a regular house that I own.

Looking at the Chorus map, I'd have to disagree with you on that one.

Took us 2.5 months to get an install done in one of our rentals, although to be fair a chunk of that was them re-scoping after we insisted that the install would need to be underground rather than their initial idea of slinging on the local power pole,
