I would have thought Royal Oak, being one of the central suburbs would be getting it sooner rather than later. I can't get any of the other faster DSL options either. Our area has dozens of multi-unit complexes, so your would think it would be a lucrative location for supplying better services, like UFB.

Last time I checked we weren't even on the rollout schedule - wtf? It could be next decade before we get it.

I agree, the UFB rollout across Auckland is really slow, and to not even have a date is poor. I would think that replacing the oldest cabinets first would more logical than favouring geographically central cabinets though. The older cabinets are more unreliable and delivering poorer quality services, so they must be the priority imo (bit like PC replacements at work).

Just got a letter today that they are installing it this month. Can't the map be more accurate?

Probably the lead time between 'boots on the ground' and the information getting back to head office.

Yes I agree they should be doing the slow area's first rather than those that can already get VDSL.

I notice that the maps have now changed

June 2019 - Dec 2019 for me in New Windsor and for a mate of mine in Torbay. He is not so bad as be is boarderline on VDSL.

I just hope that it is still free installation in 5 years + time when we finally can get it.

If you have issues with the UFB rollout then you should raise these with CFH.

As for the rollout it's pretty safe to say no matter what approach is taken there are going to be unhappy people which is exactly what we've seen with the large number of threads on here discussing this issue have show as in different parts of NZ both scenarios are occurring. Target areas with good connectivity first and there will be complaints from those in poor areas that they should get their upgrade first. Target areas with poor connectivity first and those in areas with good connectivity complain they should be first.

When a nationwide rollout takes ~8 years somebody has to be first and somebody has to be last. That's the reality, and nothing is going to change that.

Yes I know it is a massive project and there will be disappointments no matter how it is done.

We were the last area to be cabinetized in 2011 only to discover that I was not being put on a cabinet and would have to suffer slow internet.

CFH I doubt they would change their plans for one or two, I might contact them to see if they can offer more information.

Whanganui has 43 thousand people, the Auckland region has 1.5 million, so 34x the population.

its going to take a lot longer to have it installed here than down in whanganui
