Hi guys and gals,

I've got an odd problem with a Dynalink modem or two. After a couple of hours (it used to be days) of my Dynalink RTA1320 working happily, it would just lock up. It's on a reasonably healthy ADSL connection (as I type, down/up: 5824/896kbps, noise 11.8/15dB, attenuation 38/20dB), on Xnet's Flood FS/FS plan.

I'm pretty sure it's the modem, but here's the interesting thing. If I pull out the (2 year old) Dynalink RTA1320, and replace it with a <3mth old Dynalink RTA1335, I get the RTA1335 doing exactly the same thing.

When they lock up, The RTA1320 would still bridge between its Ethernet and USB ports (don't ask!) and the 1335's ethernet switch still works, the ADSL and PPP lights would stay on, the power light would stay on and green, but the web UI stops responding and it won't route anywhere.

They still answer pings. Telnetting into ports 23 or 80 opens a socket but then nothing further can happen.

Anyone seen this before? How likely is it to be both (same-brand) modems? I don't have any other branded ones handy to try just now.

Thanks,

Andrew

When I started typing this the 1335 was up, now it's down again. I'm now on my failover Woosh connection.
