Hi guys,

Can someone please assist my understanding about "dialling up" Woosh.

With the Woosh modem connected to a computer using either the USB or network cables, one would use the dialler software to establish a service/internet connection.  From the dialler settings the access number is *99#, and presumably once this connection is established the users name and password is sent to complete the transaction.

What I want to know is, what happens when the modem is connected to a router first?  As far as I can see, my router settings state only the user name and password, so how does the router know what number to "dial" to access the network?

Cheers,

R.

the *99# is only required when using the usb cable, when connecting to a computer (or router) through an ethernet cable (using PPPoE) only a user name and password are required

bj,

I appreciate that, but was asking "why"?

It's my understanding that the modem doesn't really 'dial up' in the same way that a dial up modem does and the *99# is simply used to get the computer talking to the modem
