Hi all - if you have a gigabit UFB connection somehow (I genuinely don't know whether anyone is offering one commercially) AND you're allowed to, please PM me. I'd love to see speedtest results from gig UFB accesses to the three Spark NZ speedtest servers.

Feel free to post here if you don't mind the info being public.

I'm not interested in 100 or 200Mbit connections at all - but would be interested even in results from a P2P gig link.

I must stress - if you're on a test line, you may not be allowed to post this info - please be sure you are allowed.

For both a laugh and for science I would like to see before and after speed tests of someone on gigabit over ethernet 10/100, gigabit ethernet and wifi (any wifi standard really). Already with 100Mbps or 200Mbps download plans I am hearing isolated cases of disappointment with UFB when the individual is actually disappointed in the wifi but don't (or won't) realise it.

Something that a lot of people don't realise is even if you were connected via gigabit to your gateway/router, sometimes the WAN port capability can't even break 200 megabit due to a lack of processing power.
Examples, look how many of those with high LAN to WAN throughput are over 100-200, most are high end or new models:

Here you go.

Speedtest over N wifi. AP is a Fritzbox 7390. Was approx 4m away from AP but in a different room. Using channel 13 (2.4GHz band).

And here is a speedtest with my computer connected with a faulty ethernet cable. (Devices will only ever work at 100mbit using this cable. Even if they both support gigabit)

My router is a Ubiquity Edge Router Lite. If this model is not configured right it's processor will max out at around 140Mbit. But enabling hardware acceleration for PPP allows it to do gigabit easily. (according to others on the Ubiquity forums who have gigabit connections). Processor load is approx 10% when carrying 200Mbit.
