Hi all

I will be moving to Tauranga and i need to find an internet solution. I have a laptop where i will be remote desktoping to work a full time job so it needs to be reliable aswell as portable. I dont want to use ADSL as its not portable, i need the freedom to getup and go. usb modem or any other alternative?

Which ISP and option would people recommend?

So your options are 2degrees, Vodafone or Spark with a 3G/4G stick.

if your looking for something that isnt a fixed setup, maybe 2 Degrees (not even sure if they are the cheapest for data sticks anymore.), assuming your in a 4G area, ild look to use a 4G modem not for the speed but the lower latency as that would be killer on a RDP session.

Netsmart run WiMAX in Tauranga - there are USB WiMAX USB sticks available but I don't know if they support them.

Or skinny mobile. Data is quite cheap, same network as spark.

Pick 2. 

Cheap, Portable, Lots of Data


Cheap + Portable = Datacard with not much data.

Cheap + Lots of data = ADSL connection

Portable + Lots of Data = High Cost

Cheapest option is probably Spark. You'll get 18GB for around $270 per month (combination of 3 x 6GB packs)
