Hi there, can someone please tell me where I should fix the loose orange and orange/white wires and how I actually go about doing this?

Thanks.

Apart from wanting to be tidy what is going wrong? You only need 2 wires connected.

Oh really? We just had ADSL connected in the interim before our UFB but it isn't working. The jack looked like it had been knocked off the wall so unscrewed it to check and just presumed the loose wires were the reason.

Those Orange/White wires are just the spare pair in the cable and dont need to be connected. Is something not working?

Time for more details. Do you have other jacks that do work for phones but your modem won't go? You may have a master filter half installed. If that jack is supposed to be your date jack you may need to swap the existing pair with the orange pair.

No, it is the only jack in the house :) It's just a flat so I'm not too clued in, but the landlord said the previous tenants had been using this one for Internet fine. We don't have a landline phone either.

Hi,

Are you saying you have an ADSL service with an ISP currently or are you saying you had an ADSL service with an ISP prior to getting UFB?
If you are saying you have an ADSL service currently, when was this connected? What does the modem/router lights show when you plug it in? Have you changed the settings on the modem/router at all?

More than likely your RSP has identified an old (intact) circut that was at some stage connected to your flat and has arranged for your xDSL connection to it. Another circuit (that was being used by the previous tenents) is likely to be connected to your jkpt and not the one that has been allocated to you.

This type of quick/cheap connnection is common and its a bit of hit and miss if it works.

Just report it as a fault to your RSP and they will arrange for a service tech to check the connection.

(btw the screw holes have been broken out, thats all that I can see from the photo thats wrong with it)

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Yes we have ADSL currently, just connected on Saturday. The modem is just one we got sent by Spark and the Power/WiFi/LAN1 light flash fine, but the DSL light doesn't flash at all. I haven't changed any settings on the modem, it's as out of the box.

How are you tracking with the issue?

The spark modem would have been packed with a guide....did that help?
