Hi everyone, new to this site.  Am moving next month to Awhitu.  The new residence does not have a phone line at all on the property, so was wondering what the alternatives are in this modern age.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

Vodafone provides good 2G / 3G / 4G coverage to this area so no reason you can't get RBI, Site went live about 6 months ago

http://www.vodafone.co.nz/rbi

Was out there about 3 months ago getting 70Mbp/s DL and 40Mbp/s UL

Thanks for your reply.  In this day and age - is there any alternative to installing a copper line?  God knows what thats to cost?

I posted the alternative above, I think the area is covered by a single Conklin cabinet (@coffeebaron might know more)

The alternative is in John's post above - RBI.

Cost of an RBI install and a copper connection are probably pretty similar.

Welcome to Geekzone. That's a nice part of the country to live. You could enter your address here to see what could be available where you're moving to

If there's no physical line to the property, your main options are either RBI as johnr suggested above or, if the road you're on is cabled then you could apply to have cabling run to the residence (providing also there is an available pair in the cable running down your road, and the cabinet isn't already fully subscribed!). The second option could be quite costly initially I understand. I'd look into John's suggestion of RBI first I think to get up and running, at the very least.

I was under the impression a full install including cabling to the road was quite costly in rural areas? What's the install cost of RBI?

Can be very very costly to get copper installed but then for this area good chance port waiter and when connected it would be to a congested Conklin,

Probably spot on there John, and my thoughts also. That was my thinking behind the suggestion to get sorted with RBI first up. Chances are it'll end up being their only option anyway!

Does vodafone home phone wireless require not require a RBI install, just for a phone line?

Assume HP needs internet aswell though.

I've done a few RBI Wireless installs for these guys in that area:
http://www.ultimatebroadband.co.nz/rbi-wireless.html
We specialise in larger data caps, do open term contract. We also give you a public IP, or on request you can get a static IP on most plans. Some other RBI Wireless providers use CG-NAT. VoIP option for phone available too, though this is best efforts service as a heavy loaded cell-site can cause issues.

Rural IT and Broadband support.

Broadband troubleshooting and master filter installs.
Starlink installer - one month free: https://www.starlink.com/?referral=RC-32845-88860-71
Wi-Fi and networking
Cel-Fi supply and installer - boost your mobile phone coverage legally

HP, many people here can vouch for coffeebaron. Top guy and top notch work.

If you click coffeebaron's "Email" button you would be best to discuss prices privately.

Best of luck with the move to Awhitu!
