This could be a typo, but I have to ask; is VDSL now available with up to 20mbit upload speeds!?

I found it on the spark site today:
http://www.spark.co.nz/business/shop/internet/businessbroadband

(And yes, I am aware that I have posted in the 'general' forum vs the spark one, but I'm interested in the general availability of >10mbit upload speeds, not specifically spark offering it)

Chorus are changing the VDSL band plan. The new one supports upload speeds faster than 10mbit. Guess the change must have been done.

Just rang Snap on the off chance that they'd heard about something, but no info there.

Maybe they wrote this for after the bandplan changes comes into play?

Spark use chorus gear, which dont do annex M so their Adsl listing for upload looks off too.

Also, their FAQ. 12Mbit upload.. of course logic says they accidentally missed the bullet-point there.

How fast is ADSL broadband?

It has been the standard in NZ for a long time and, depending on the quality of your lines, gives download speeds of up to 24Mbps and upload speeds of 12Mbps. This is plenty for the basics like emailing, surfing the net and checking social networks.

LOL, perhaps their website QC is as good as their technical support (ie; token)

The table has 2 for ADSL which is annex M speeds. So far only seen that on slingshot connections. Hope that chorus are moving to it as it will help a lot with crappy long copper that cant get VDSL.

i do recall a few mentions that the bandplan changes will also allow VDSL to go slightly further too however..

Perhaps it's this?:

However, from what I'm reading Band Plan 998 aims to be MORE asymmetrical (ie; more downstream, less upstream).  Hard to find readable details on band plan 998, but I found this:

I'm actually quite worried that the changed might make my bigpipe and the flatmates snap connections which are already crap get even worse. Basically if the flatmates connection gets any worse I will probably have to swap inorder to keep a flatmate because its already got to the stage where he is considering moving. Should see if I can get someone from chorus as a flatmate. Then the horrid copper might get sorted.

More people using vdsl, more cross talk, we will see reduction in speed?

998 is supposed to reduce the impact of cross talk, improve speeds and allow slightly longer lines VDSL (or at least that is what I have been told)
