Was checking it today right now just for fun, last time I checked it said >5Mbps(I get a max of 2.5) but now it's saying >10Mbps. Is this a glitch?

DarkShadow: Your area got upgraded?

My part of Auckland wasn't due for an upgrade. I was told my suburb is not in the upgrade plans. And if the area was upgraded, why do I not have faster speeds? Is this not an automatic thing?

Oratia. The chorus map said we weren't ever getting upgraded before and now I see that the map says we have faster speeds avaliable.
I mean, by now I've come to accept that I will have bad internet but this gives me some hope.

bump after 4 and a half hours? not having an answer is not going to affect you in any way is it.

maybe chorus did a tweek to the cabinet or something like that.

but as has been said the chorus maps are a general guide only. they are not 100% accurate.

have you investigated your internal wiring? do you know how far away you are from the cabinet?

@firebreaker A quick Google search and I found this, Quicker than starting a thread on Geekzone and bumping it

https://www.chorus.co.nz/better-broadband-for-waitakere

Are you in the area shown in the map at bottom of the page?

And you'd be right, except the press release gives us the map and the road I live on is most definitely not in the upgraded zone, hence the confusion.

But I suspect all users in the general area are off the same cabinet, The map is not 100% but a general gudie line

Sure, they are a general guide but surely if the map has gone from >5Mbps to >10Mbps some speed gains should be expected?

I'll be calling Spark tomorrow to make sure I was just somewhat surprised to see that regarding our network capability.

correct me if im pulling up the wrong part of the maps, but is Oratia not a fair bit away from waitakere.....

As for Waitakere, WAK/C and WAK/B were upgraded, WAK/J is a conklin fed off WAK/B and is not planned to be upgraded.

So what would I be connected to? Can anyone tell me which cabinet or whatever I am connected to?
