I'm on the Pakuranga exchange and got broadband just as the ADSL2+ upgrade was happening.  During the few weeks of commissioning a few months ago my line would drop frequently even 10 or 20 times a day and the noise margin was around 12dB with frequent drops to 8dB or less.

Then suddenly on the last day of the commissioning period my line was stable, only sometimes gets dropped (maybe once or twice a week), and with a stable noise margin of 12dB.

This morning around 7:00 the line dropped and I see the noise margin is around 18dB.  Has anyone else noticed a significant improvement in noise margin?  If so, then I suspect Telecom has made further adjustments to the exchange.

What downstream attenuation figure do you get - does this change? Did sync speed change with change in noise margin??

Sync used to be around 9.5Mbps, it is now 5.8Mbps.  Downstream attenuation is 38dB.  I did not watch this, but think is was always around that figure.  My attainable line rate is still over 9Mbps as it always has been.  Noise margin is now 16.6, still 4dB better than it's ever been.

Upstream noise margin is 38.8dB which sounds a lot more than what is used to be, think that was somewhere in the high 20's.

Given the downstream attenuation figure of 38 dB are you greater than 2.5 km from exchange as indicated or really much closer.

I am about 3km from the exchange when following the main roads (most likely route for cables).  We are in Edgewater, an older area with overhead phone lines (although there are underground cables with little pillars, even outside my home).
