Hi There!

Due to complications I don't want to cover, we have a customer who wants to move ISP's, in the middle of a UFB Build.

Is there a way to do this without losing the entire progress been made to date and having to start again?

Customer has been waiting 7 months already for their connection, which isn't the reason for their desire to move.

If in a Chorus area, contact the Chorus Service Delivery Manager who is on your ISP account team and provide the full details.  It may or may not make an impact, depending on where the consent/build/provisioning process has got to.

I'd highly recommend you don't change provider during a build if you don't have to. The order would be cancelled and your new ISP would be starting from scratch.

Problem is once the connection is established, they will be locked into a 12 month contract.

If the reason it's taken so long is due to the complexity of the install you may end up with another big wait on your hands. Certain providers (wink) might consider covering the termination fee if you switch to them after you finally get connected.

I don't know what they will be paying you to try and manage this but it may be the break fee is cheaper when all is said and done.

Also Slingshot has a point. It would probably worth it for any new provider taking over an existing connection that sort of deal.

Please note: I have a professional bias towards Vodafone.

We've taken over a few ufb connections that are during the consent stage, it hasn't affected them at all.
Not sure about build stage. But it's very unlikely they would cancel the entire build because you are wanting to change to another ISO. It's not like you are totally canceling the order.
As long as you make sure your new ISP talks to chorus about it BEFORE you cancel with the existing ISO then it should be fine.

If it's for an mdu (quite likely if it's taking 7 months already), then it's likely that they aren't the only person who has a current order underway for that building, so if that is the case, then one person canceling won't make any difference at all.

This is Chorus we are talking about here.  Don't change anything!  There is a 99% probability Chorus will screw it up.  Don't risk it!
