I am in Onehunga Auckland and our UFB upgrade was finished in the street about a month ago. How long might it be until I can actually get connected to my house? Currently it is showing to ISPs as not available.

A week, a month, a year. Read this thread from last week which explains it.

I read that thread but it seemed to be about getting fibre installed into the street in relation to planned rollout. My question was about signing up once it was already installed in the street. Or have I got this wrong?

have a search for other threads similar to your one. it can vary, weeks, a month, a few months, 6 months, generally a few weeks to a few months, but can be longer. There is no specific time frame.

Just a case of hurry up and wait.

It is typically about 3 months between when they finish installing the green Chorus fibre ducting. And when the ISP address checkers, And the Chorus fibre map list fibre as being available to order.

Check both the chorus fibre map site, and some of the ISP sites daily. As there is no set day when they release updates. So when it becomes available to order. You can be first in. In my area, the ISPs listed it as available before Chorus did.

Same boat here. Apparently go by the chorus estimate. On the map page our estimate is October. So everyone i ask at chorus tells me 31 Oct. I think they are guessing lol

Same here, Fibre was completed in our street just over a month ago. I check the chorus map daily. For us it will be a HUGE improvement, currently have a 5mb connection on a good day. Hence my excitement.

It really depends. An area will be split into nodes which are built out one at a time.

Each node isn't lived up as it's completed - a number of these will all go live at once. The timeframes from the time the ducting is installed to this occurring can be anything from a few weeks to 6+ months. The Chorus coverage tool is the only thing you should go by, this will tell you when you're scheduled to go live.

Our street had its Fibre install/ Ducting completed 1st December 2014 after they worked on it late October and November. We were finally able to order it on the 1st of July as Chorus would deny any order before then and our homes install is due to be fully running tomorrow.

It said "Fibre 200Mbps by December 2014" and I got the letter from Chorus saying your area is ready for Fibre and we should contact our ISP to upgrade in Janurary but when we did Chorus kept declining the order until July at last.

I noticed today the Chorus are working in my area again. They laid the thick green piping about 5 weeks ago, now they appear to be pushing a black cable about 10mm thick through a manhole. A huge reel of it. Is this black cable the actual fibre optic cable?

UFB took about 3 months to install at our place. UFB had only just been installed in our street.

Woo-blinking-hoo it's showing as available. That's about 7 weeks.
