Hi,

Just reading this comment on the RC Groups website (FPV) about the speed this chap had there at home..

"I agree. I have 1gb symmetrical bandwidth,"    for helping to debug/test a new FPV racing sim...in pre alpha...

I didnt really understand what he meant... any info..??

Thanks

Laurie

It means the upstream and downstream speed are the same.  In this case 1Gb/s.

Or wait for Gigatown to come to you.

Upstream is "only" 500 mb/s though, so not 1gb/s symmetrical.

Japan is still a better option.

Bandwidth out of japan on many providers there is rubbish. Friend was staying over there and got close to 1gb/s speedtests within japan, but going outside was 20-30 megs. similar speeds on FTP etc.

Japan is like korea, so much of their stuff is consumed from in country so they just dont care about that performance.

1Gbps symmetrical is an option here as well if you want P2P

Offering 1Gbps upstream on GPON doesn't make a lot of sense when GPON only supports 1.2Gbps upstream. You either have an exceptionally high contention ratio or have to add way less than the normal 16-32 users per splitter.

My bank account isn't healthy enough for P2P to be an option.  I expect 1 Gb/s is so fast that most users wouldn't have the equipment to use all of that bandwidth.

Most people can't utilize 50/20 properly........ and that's equipment aside, they just don't actually use their connection that way unless its in short bursts (I exclude most of the people in here we're on average going be on the higher end of the curve for obvious reason)

Yes I heard they are thinking of shifting Dunedin up to Auckland to help boost lagging property prices..... It just makes sense :)
