hey guys i recently got a new laptop and i need help setting up my internet connection.

Basically i've got a DLink DSL-302G ADSL modem from ages ago when xtra was giving them away for free. the installation CD that came with it doesnt work unless you've got an account with xtra (i've switched to xnet). Are there any drivers or anything i need off this CD?

I've tried plugging it into my laptop but the connection says local only. How do i configure this baby?

Sorry for all the noob questions!

You should be able to access the modem's configuration page by entering a local IP address. For my one it would be 10.1.1.1.

Your one (from my research) is also 10.1.1.1

To make this work though, you need to connect your laptop to the modem using an Ethernet cable (usually it should come with a blue cable - that should be the one), and enter the address into your browser.

If you ring your ISP's help line generally they are helpful in setting your modem up, they will ask what it is and then tell you exactly what to do.

Like is said above you should be able to access your config via a local IP address
