Hi,

Is there any lurking Chorus staff that may be able to confirm if Chorus (or more likely subcontractors) are laying UFB conduit in the Johnsonville area at the moment?

Question pertains to the actual work being done, not UFB in general.

Ta.

Yes UFB is bring rolled out there. There are big signs up saying it's the UFB rollout being done in the areas they're working.

I posted a photo before, top of Ironside Rd (that roll is now empty, after a couple of days work).

They'll use whatever the prevailing method is for the lead-in. This doesn't mean the network is overhead though - literally 90% of that is underground like the existing copper network.

Well, that question seems to have sparked an interesting discussion!

OK, so Chorus (or someone) is laying UFB conduit; fine.

Sadly, our car was parked in the street today next to "some workmen doing something with green cable", and now we have some minor scratching on the side.  Not a major issue by any stretch (chances are it'll polish out); but as Chorus was working in the area, I'd like to drop them a little note to basically say "please be a little more careful"...

Contact details of the company doing the work will be in the mailer you would have got before work commenced or big signs up near the work areas saying it's UFB with site contact(s).

Thanks; we don't live there so no mailer. Wife's work is there; doubt they'd kept mailer even if they got one. Will have to look out for signs.

As said, not a biggie; I'm not going to go out of my way to make a huge fuss...

Just out of interest's sake, anyone know how much of that tube is on one of those reels? A km or more?

Just a follow-up and public poking to say that despite promises, I have *never* been contacted by anyone regarding the minor damage to my vehicle.

It would be nice if someone from the subcontractor would take ownership of the issue and contact me.

Sadly, it seems that although individual people in NZ may care about things; corporate indifference has become the norm.

Pity.
