Is there a way I can express interest in this?

Any feedback about this?

TimA: Pretty sure Spark have an option to register your interest in it.

I would never use Telecom so that doesn't come up. I want to know if / when the service will be available here and I will choose an ISP at that stage - most likely Inspire.

Step 1: PM me your address so i can check to see if you can get rural fibre
Step 2: Find an ISP who offers rural fibre in your area.
Step 3: Call or inquire with them.
Step 4: Profit.

Your steps are reversed and not how it works.

Contact an RSP who will a) be able to establish whether you can get the service, and b) help you apply if you want to go ahead with looking at pricing.

Thanks for the responses and offers of help.

I have contacted Inspire who say it's not available to this address but I was wondering if there was an interest list I could get added to.

I would think our address would be feasible for rural fibre.

an interest list is only going to help let you know when its ready, ie the ISP will email you when you can get fibre.

are you in a fibre zone or a zone that will get fibre in the future?

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

The tool tells me:

Network capability

  • Broadband > 20 Mbps (with the right modem and plan)
  • RBI Broadband > 5 Mbps

It provides no indication of any planned fibre upgrade.

Look at the below map

Is there a blue line outside the place you want to get rural fibre?

Not seeing anything. Unless there is an option to register my interest, I doubt there is much to discuss. Thanks for the responses.

if there is no blue line in the rural map then you pretty much cant get rural fibre
if there was a blue line you would be up for the install costs would would probably be in 5 figures.

you can get VDSL so why not get that?

registering your interest wont achieve a lot i wouldnt think.

I was expecting install in the $-thousands... 5 figures? I may be able to do that as we own this place so I would think of it as an investment. But it's not an option anyway.

I already have VDSL. 32 / 9.6 @ speedtest.net

then be happy :)

5 figures because you would have to pay for the optical spitter, its enclosure any digging/thrusting to get the cable to your house. its not cheap.
