On a recent trip to Singapore I purchased a Wi-Fi router (SMC 2804WBR) to connect with my Woosh modem. I came home with the expectation that I was in for a few set-up issues. Fortunately I was wrong, the set-up was very easy, SMC appear to have put allot of effort ensuring installation convenience. As it turned out the problem occurred 2-5 minutes after use, for some reason modem traffic stopped even though it was still connected to Internet.

From what I can establish it appears that there is a loss in connection between the router and the modem, connectivity is maintained between the router and either my USB2 or PMCIA connector. If the connection didn't work full stop perhaps I could pursue other options, however as the connection seems to die after a couple of minutes I am at a loss.

Don't know if this is a config, woosh, or router issue so any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

I take your Woosh connection works fine when plugging the Woosh modem directly to your computer? If this is the case, have you tried another router?

I had a D-LINK wireless router that blocked all traffic in my network (connected to a 10mbps cable modem) every 20 minutes. I sent that back after two days of frustation.

I have been using the modem via USB without any problems. Hope that it's not the router as it's a long way back to Singapore ;). Thanks for your feedback...

There may be some updated firmware for the router on the SMC website. Might be worth a look.

Also check things like UPNP. If the modem supports it but the router doesn't then you might be better off turning it off. Just a thought.
