I'm curious. It's been over two years now, and this is one of the better speed test results I've had in my Tauranga 100Mbit plan https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/1697774976

Why does the speed test say your ISP is Trustpower? Are you connected to the right Wi-Fi network?

I don't know why Speedtest.net thinks FF is Trustpower. Perhaps FF might shed some light on this, if one of their reps is monitoring threads regarding FF? Regardless I am connected to my home WiFi via my FF supplied router to my fibre modem.

Baboon: ... WiFi ...

What speed test results do you get on a wired connection?

Better by far via ethernet https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/5453325579

It would seem my problems are due to some impressively lacklustre WiFi via the FF supplied HG253s V2 router with 802.11n WiFi. I guess it is only 802.11n, after all. But I've seen better than my usual WiFi speedtest results under 40Mbps. I even had a better speedtest at a little over 50Mbps on public WiFi the other week (though granted that has to be pretty unusual, as most public WiFi can barely manage YouTube video IME) :-D

Are you sure your mobile device is connected to Full Flavour via Wi-Fi and you're not hooked into a neighbour's Trustpower wifi connection by mistake?

I can't think of any circumstance where a speed-test done on a Full Flavour Wi-Fi connection would result in the ISP being labelled "Trustpower", we've got nothing to do with them.

Certainly via ethernet it looks like we're delivering the speed you pay for :)

Certainly looks like a neighbours DSL connection.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

WiFi is not a substitute for a wired connection - it is complementary. The tradeoff is you cannot guarantee throughput, and it is susceptible to interference. It is convenient for mobile devices, but don't ever expect to always get good throughput, even with the best quality gear.

WiFi performance is completely beyond the control of a RSP. Just because you got better WiFi performance on a public WiFi network means absolutely nothing.

30Mbps on 802.11n WiFi is pretty typical performance. Expecting more than this in your typical urban environment is simply not realistic.

WiFi is not and never will be a replacement for cabled Ethernet. The fact it's half duplex means it will also never be suited for many applications.

Yes, I'm connected to my home network.

103.26.16.94 on both, since I'm only on one network. Even if I wanted to be on another WiFi network, there are no unprotected networks nearby, nor have there ever been in the ten years I've lived here :-)

In this case your WiFi is badly configured or there's some really bad interference going on there.

Anyway, since your ethernet connection is performing well, this is not a Full Flavour problem.

I'm not sure I can see how my WiFi can be badly configured. It works just fine - reliable and hassle-free, aside from so-so speed test results compared to some other WiFi networks I've connected to. Plus it was and remains simply setup with no special configuration:

Well, this speedtest.net server shows my ISP correctly https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/1699879963
