Is the attached image of telco equipment on power poles of my area of Devonport part of the UFB network build?
I have been out of NZ for two years. UFB was put in our street while we were away, but my son said he never saw any sign of civil works eg trenching or horizontal boring. Nor are there any obvious new inspection hatches in the pavement.
But these black boxes on the power poles that have normal copper landlines distributed from them, do appear to be new since we had been out of NZ.
I have successfully applied for UFB to be installed and all consents are in place. Chorus tell me it is waiting on some small amount of network building to take place street side before they run the fibre down my driveway.
The Chorus lady could not explain to me what the street side network build would be given fibre is supposedly in the street, so I wondered if it was taking a fibre cable from these black boxes and then running it down the power pole and then running down my driveway (Chorus have already confirmed the installation plan for down the driveway which is a combination of bury and micro cut through concrete).
