On stuff (yes I know, I know). No sign of a press release on the greens website yet.
Greens are apparently calling the Government out over UFB2 delays.

PaulBags: "The Green Party says it is concerned the Government may be holding back a project ... Crown Fibre Holdings ... had originally expected to award contracts by the end of June"
So, not mentioned is why the greens think it won't happen by that deadline.
Pretty sure it was supposed to be June 2016.
It hasn't happened, and they have missed the end of 2016 deadline also (as mentioned in the article).
Govt calls greens out for being late. English demanded the Greens "do nothing faster"
Mike
Such comments from the Greens really show how out of touch they really are. It's no secret in the industry what's been going on, and without going into much further on here the expected announcement date for UFB2 is very soon and delays have not been a result of the Govt directly - it's CFH that ultimately run the UFB project.

Yeah, but he didn't just ask the question, he decided to play politics and speculated on what the answer was.....

PaulBags: Opposition asking questions of ministers, that's what parliment is for. He even has the choice of asking for a written or oral answer.
Only reason I can think of to ask through the media instead is free publicity.

Certainly no one can do nothing about climate change faster than this government.
And long may that continue until larger countries do something.
I'm happy for us to be fast followers.

Careful Linuxluver, it's beginning to look awfully like you are some kind of dirty tree hugger! On Geekzone! We don't take kindly to lefties like you around here ;)
I do find it amusing how apparently the government is not at fault for the project they started and oversee. And how apparently the opposition doing their job - asking very reasonable questions - outside of parliament is some kind of great crime!
sbiddle, knowledge 'in the industry' isn't good enough. This is a public project on taxpayer money, and a little bit of accountability - even just some public status updates - is NOT too much to ask.

That......and Parliament isn't in session.
Seems logical that the contract(s) should have penalty provisions in them or some stick/carrot for the govt to use to prod along the UFB contractors.
