I've been looking for a new wireless router and would, ideally, like one that will replace the router and avoid me having to double NAT etc.

The Linksys WRT1900ACS seems to get good write ups but I can't seem to find any information on whether it supports VLAN or not and hence whether it will work directly on UFB or not.

I've found topics on the WRT1900AC which seem to imply that model works but strangely I find no mention of VLAN support for that on the Linksys site etc. (However the screenshot on Geekzone showed it *did* have VLAN?!)

Any pointers or tips gladly received!

Have a look at my thread here: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=66&topicid=197871

The ACS will work but is not the best router. Look at the Netgear R7000.

I had the WRT1900ACS - a bit buggy for home networking (sometimes devices show up on the network map and sometimes they are not there!). cannot fault the wifi and the file transfer rate.

and yes to vlan tagging.

got something like 500Mbps down/400Mbps up with my iphone 7 wifi

Thanks - I thought I remembered a thread like that but couldn't find it when the time came (typical).

I've read a few things that reckon ACS is better than the R7000 so wonder if you have any links / points which point you more in favour of the R7000?

I reckon the ACS is on par. No better no worse. In terms of max performance on available devices. The differences lie in the other things.

I am telling myself when everything is loaded to the max surely the 1.6GHz would have to outperform the 1GHz dual core, all things being equal.

Other things like wifi distance, 2.4GHz performance, stability of windows networking, etc maybe the netgear wins but who knows.
