Is there any way of speeding up the disconnect/reconnect process on a Chorus UFB install?

We've just moved into an office (moved in last Wednesday, February 1st) and BigPipe had planned on connecting us on Thursday morning (February 2nd). Turns out we were given an incorrect address by the landlord for our existing ONT install (this building has three-four tenants and a confusing address structure) so BigPipe switched on an ONT that's not actually ours (through no fault of BigPipe).

Now we are at the stage where we finally have the correct address (Chorus visited on Friday to replace the ONT power cord and confirm the address and they obviously got it wrong, as the latest word is different from what they said on Friday), however it turns out there's an existing connection with Spark that is scheduled for disconnection on February 15.

This basically means that we are without internet until February 15 which is obviously very inconvenient (there's no ADSL/VDSL that we can fall back on, AFAIK).

Are there any tricks that can speed up the disconnect/reconnect process? The existing tenant has apparently contacted Spark to ask that they be disconnected ASAP, which I would've thought could be done almost instantly, especially since BigPipe is technically just a re-packaged version of Spark (same network etc.)?

Any ideas anyone? Thank the Lorde for 2degrees rollover data and iPhone Personal Hotspot…

If there is a spark connection on it, cant you just plug in and use that since they use port authentication?

Hmmmnn, the BigPipe modem doesn't work when I do that, nor does my Netgear R7000. I'm guessing the connection is turned off at Spark's end (as the tenant has probably got it going at their new address) but still frustratingly 'active' according to Chorus.

Please send me a private message with the street address of the building, as well as the unit address that Chorus says you are occupying. I will trace it to find the Spark connection (if I can), and will attempt to contact our customer to confirm if we can disconnect it early.

Thanks,

Nope, you can't order anything the same ONT if there's an order currently inflight on that ONT.

Try enabling VLAN tagging on the router.

It's not. Different network, different people, different systems.

Is it a chorus thing re the open service order, or is this rule across all LFC's?

You can't have multiple service orders against any connection whether it be copper or fibre with Chorus. The implications of allowing this would be very frequent train wrecks, primarily in the copper world. The other LFC's operate in different ways so I'm not sure if all have the same rules.

So you got bigpipe hooked up to a business?
Thought they say residential only.

Not blaming you going with bigpipe though - great service. Just thought they wouldn't supply businesses.

There's no business SLA and it's just two of us in the "office" so pretty much like a residential install :)

And yep I've been more than happy with my Bigpipe at home for the past two years!

Yes, you can get "residential" connections at business locations. At least via chorus.
