i connect to the internet through an adsl modem with dynamic ip allocation. Now i needed to take advantage of this dynamic ip allocation
and change my ip address every 10 mins. I wrote an expect script, that did a telnet to my modem and restarted it periodically.

Now,  I did this for 2-3 days, and one day my net died. I contacted the isp, and he told me some circuit was damaged and some connection and
tag updatation needed to be done.It was finally repaired in 2 days, after which when i again started the script , and net died in one night. Again the same repair process was carried out.

Now, I am apprehensive about trying a third time.

Can an expert shed some light on the whole thing ? or mention some precautions and steps i can take with respect to my
scheduling intervals etc.

Unusual.

Leave it for a few weeks. Then try, and see if the results replicate.
Trying again so soon will not allow you to rule out a coincidence should the fault occur again.
