I am with slingshot (yes i know) and have got hold of a telecom wireless dsl-g6404t and was hoping to connect it to my lappie which has wifi.  I have managed to get the lappie to see the modem but the modem can't see the net.  Do I need to call the helpdesk (please god no!) to set it up, or is it simply that it won't work.  (like vodafone vs telecom phones)

Thanks

Yes I think I have, thats by going 10.1.1.1 and setting up the modem right? I have done that.

You are only using one dsl at a time on your line? Slingshot pevents dual logins to one account.

settings for username and password is the most helpful comment. And yes at logining into the modem to make these changes via the 10.1.1.1 if that's where the admin settings exist.

Slingshots help line should be able to help with the infomation you need to enter, they might even ave the support cards you your modem as it was support by the encumbent telecom, don't even bother with vodafone, they would be unless to dig at a solution.

It is a DSL-G604T and not dsl-g6404t? http://www.dlink.com.au/Products.aspx?Sec=1&Sub1=1&Sub2=2&PID=50

Hi thanks for the helpful comments.

Definitely the G604T, and yes am only trying one modem at a time.

Have looked at the installation guide and what it has told me appeared to be everything that the wizard did.

I will give slingshot a ring tomorrow, altho I saw something on their website that their helpdesk only deals with Dynalink.  Or was it D-link.  Are they the same company?

Will find out tomorrow, thanks again.

Well it is all sorted now.  Turns out I had done everything right, except instead of during the modem setup instead of 'slingshot' it should be 'jetbuster'.  Why I don't know but problem is solved.

And it took around 2 minutes to answer my call too!  Jackpot!

Thanks to all who helped.
