I just received a survey phone call from Roy Morgan research in Australia. One of the questions was what kind of Internet connection you have at home. And the only 2 options were ADSL and Cable. I replied with Fibre optic. But the caller said that he had to record my response as "other"

I will have to see if I can find the results for the survey when it is done. As UFB, fixed cellular and wireless, and VDSL will mean that lots of NZ will be getting Internet via Other means.

I decided not to rub salt into the callers wounds by telling him my speed and that I have unlimited data. He had said earlier in the call that he is in Melbourne.

I'm wondering why they're calling NZ.

And why they're asking that question. We have ADSL, Cable and "NBN" which can be various fibre connections (HFC, FTTN, FTTH, FTT?) or wireless.

VDSL isn't an option here coz you guys think YOUR copper is effed. LOL.

They're just wasting money and time by calling OS.

They call here to do surveys of other things, asking the internet connection type is just like they ask income and do you own more than 3 cars and other background crap.

What we have here as VSDL is what you fullas are getting on your FTTN NBN, except your copper is even worse and the backhaul dimensioning is worse than the figures that the comcom here pulled out of their butts as a minimum.

Lol...that makes sense.

Yeah, our "NBN" is a joke.

Got notification it's coming here next month. HFC. Our 100/2 cable will become 100/20, if we're lucky and not too many others end up on our node.
