I've recently had fibre installed at my property (and the others sharing my driveway) - at this stage just the initial cabling to each house's garden. The fibre runs alongside the concrete pad for the main driveway before splitting off in two directions to each house at my end of the drive. I've noticed in the last week that my neighbors have run off the driveway more than once and their tyres have gouged big ruts in the soft soil right where the cable was laid. Are they likely to have damaged any of the cabling?

Well if you believe what Chorus dish out about the "ruggedized" microduct it will be sweet as. I for one don't believe them for a second. Especially with the lax approach to bury depths and the haphazard install procedure of most of the installers.

Just another example of dollars ruling over common sense.

I've peered into the ruts - can't see any exposed cable. I'm tempted to find a big rock and stick it on that corner. It's not on my side of the driveway but technically it's part of my property.

At least it is only fibre to 2 houses. One house down from mine a section of the street fibre ducting is only buried 100mm approx deep, right next to the edge of the council footpath. And there are 10 houses feeding off that ducting. Thankfully my house is upstream of that part.
