Hey guys,

I been having problems for awhile now with my adsl light on my modem keep dropping out.  Yesterday it was droppingout every 10 minutes which is ridiculous.  Also On days when it is more stable everytime i turn on the phone or the phone rings my adsl drops out aswell.

Ive rang xtra who are hopeless, we tried new filters, we also tried isolating the modem to find the problem but it still does it whenever i turn on the phone, then they put me on hold until i got sick of waiting and hanged up on them.

If anybody has an idea what might be the cause and knows how to fix it i would gladly appretiate it!

I'm afraid the best way is to call them and get them to a line check. If they are unwilling to look into it further, ask for a manager.

I'll also send you a pm as well.

Things that you can do is:
Try different filters
Try removing other devices on the line.
Make sure you don't have a monitored alarm without a filter.
Make sure all pots devices are filtered
Try different jack points
Try different modem

That pretty much covers everything you can do. Given the issue, a lot might not actually help but useful to be aware of.

Is the phone filtered? If so, did you replace filter with a new one.

If your line has been updated to ADSL2+ perhaps its your modem chip that is playing up.

Try reading Xnet or Slingshot webpage/network status that telecom having problem with
some router/modem chipsets which they are trying to fix.

I have a Dynalink RTA1025 which has constant disconnection for a couple days with ADSL2+ upgrade.
Apparently (this is what I was told) after Teelcom update the firmware at the
exchange/Islam/dslam(or whatever) has  resolve my problem. Rock solid for 7 days.

Just reboot my modem today.

I rang Xtra they did a line test which turned out to be fine.  Turns out that if you have a PANASONIC, or UNIDEN phone and a DLINK FILTER,  the filter doesnt work well with the pansonic/uniden phone.  So i changed my filter to something other than a dlink and ive had no problems so far fingers crossed.

Thanks For your replys
