HELP!
On Woosh (no it's NOT them this time - it's my prob!) with Dynalink RTA1320 and Vista Hm Prem on Dell E521.

Have really slow internet (around 100-200k) when modem connected to PC via the ethernet cable - and around 2g when connected via the USB cable. You're thinking - it's just the cable - turns out its not. Got a new one today, tried it out and same prob :( Anyone had a prob with this model modem not connecting though ethernet, or anyone heard of this being a Vista setting I may have to change??

try this....TCP Optimizer...

make sure when you run this...select the ethernet card in the properties window....by default it should be selected but just in case....

Do whatever you want to do man.

Dang, I was about to switch to woosh and get some 2gig speed :(

Anyways, sounds like something up with your network settings (as billgates suggests). Do you have another PC / Laptop or friend bring their laptop? Would be a good idea to try on Ethernet with another PC if you can.

I wonder if you are having an auto-negotation problem between your PC and the modem ?

Go into the hardware properties of the ethernet adapter on your computer and look at the speed and duplex settings of it. auto speed and auto duplex is probably what it should be set to .. but the setting MUST match what the device at the end of the cable is set to .. in your case I assume you have no ethernet switch and the cable goes from the PC to the Modem ?

If you don't have the settings aligned and say have your computer hard set to 100Mb Full duplex and then have a ethernet cable going straight to the modem which is set for auto speed auto negotiate you can interesting issues .. the modem would be able to work out the speed to talk at, but not be able to work out the duplex so it would settle on 100Mb speed and HALF duplex ... which pretty much means your computer will be transmitting at Full duplex, the modem at half .. some of the packets would get through but a huge amount of retries would be happening .. resulting in slllloooooooowwwwwww speed.
(that's roughly what happens, there is a far mroe technical description which I can't remember .. but I run into this problem all the time at work when people are complaining to me the performance sucks :-)
