The Commerce Commission has today released a further two quick guides as part of its work to help demystify broadband for consumers.

“There are many factors that affect how your broadband is performing. When consumers experience problems, we want to help them identify the potential causes, as well as giving them practical advice about what they can do to try and improve their broadband before they take it up with their internet service provider,” Telecommunications Commissioner
Dr Stephen Gale said.

“Making sure your router is in the best location and away from interfering electrical devices can work wonders. Speed testing websites can also provide useful information on download and upload speeds and give clues about where potential issues may lie.”

This work is part of our broader focus on retail telecommunications and draws on the broadband performance monitoring the Commission funds under the Telecommunications Act. We plan to release more fact sheets about broadband in the future.

A copy of the fact sheets can be found on the Commission’s website.

According to the Broadband Map, I can't get broadband at all. Maybe I should stop complaining.
