Just after some advice, my annual contract with Spark is coming to and end, and I'm keen to see what other fibre (no landline - 100mb download) providers there are in the market.

Spark offer 5ghz WIFI and I'm getting some pretty good speed at home and would want to continue this level of performance.

Keen to hear any feedback and recommendations for consideration? Do any other ISP providers provide 5ghz WIFI modems?

check out bigpipe same network as spark and you can keep your current modem.

Bigpipe uses the same upstream providers as Spark - but it's a separate network.

(Skinny and Bigpipe uses the same network.)

Most ISPs you're able to use your own modem if you want (i.e. you would have to change some settings manually when you change ISP potentially).

Re previous post, BigPipe is not using the same network as Spark - and no where near the reliability of Spark in my experience. But, they are a good option if you want a low cost connection.

Generally if you want a new modem from an ISP you'll either have to sign up for a contract or buy the modem outright.

I'm pretty sure most of the providers offer 5 Ghz Wifi routers (those who offer routers at all that is). Vodafone at least has for a number of years.

If you don't like the ISP supplied router or Wifi equipment, feel free to supply your own. (my vodafone router has been a little unstable of late (requiring daily restarts), so I am now using an asus one).

If it's just the price you're concerned about go to online chat and see if they'll offer you anything for another contract term.

They are the most expensive to my knowledge (especially if not using Light Box etc) but I've found their service and network reliability top notch.

Which ASUS router did you go for?

My Vodafone HG659 was playing up, but seems to be fine now. Touch wood.

I think ill have a little online chat with Spark and see if they can sweeten the deal if I stay....
