Anyone running a Draytek Vigor 130, preferably on Voyager ?

Trying to set one up as a test (internet keeps dropping and convinced its ISP router fault) but cant get it online

I've upgraded it to the latest firmware (was on one dated 2013), put in all the settings that I can find, yet cursed thing still wont go online.

Funny thing is, if I let it do an auto line check it says its ADSL2 when its actually VDSL.

Regardless what option I use (ADSL/VDSL) it always comes back saying its training, and never seems to complete a sync.

Soon as I plug the old router back in, I get connected no problem.

Any ideas ? If someone could post their Vigor 130 config, that'd be great to compare against.

TIA

Mine works fine with voyager doing pppoe passthru to a unifi gateway. Because of that its a pain to get to the config to show you, but I just copied one I found here http://downloads.snappernet.co.nz/draytek/dv130/Draytek%20DV130%20Chorus%20VDSL%20Bridged%20Sample%20Configuration.pdf - but I did it without the vlan insertion and have the vlan on the unifi gateway

If DV130 is factory reset all you need to do to setup Bridge mode is this:

and

I have set my DV130 to VLAN 10 (could make my router do this also, but easier and less code this way)
If you don't have a VLAN then first step just set VDSL only

You may want to setup a IP it can be reached incase you have a Router that can do that (ie Ubiquiti ERL3 or R7000 with Tomato)
Don't have to reboot with each setting, do it last

Thanks, but suspect Im still going to have issues as those settings would more likely kick in once the sync/ppp is completed :-/ Im just not getting sync.

Will try anyway :)

Lack of (or very poor) sync isn't what's causing the original problem is it...

If there's a line fault, it may be why the other modem keeps dropping the connection, and why the DV130 won't sync. When the other modem connects, what's the sync rate look like?

Sync rates on original unit are fine, get around 50/15. Problem with it is, that at random times the router just reboots itself with no warning etc.

Spoken with Voyager about it and they say the example times Ive given them don't show any disconnect on their side - yet the router is in full reboot mode and when it comes back up it shows the sync time (and PPP session)  as however long its been since it restarted (which is what you'd expect). So I cant under stand why Voyager cant see it dropping out.

They did offer to send out another router, but would charge me $35 if no fault was found on the original. So I'm trying to confirm whether its the router or the connection dying before going further.

I like the Zyxel router but its firmware is a little dodgy, cant log anything locally or via SNMP.

The modem should sync regardless wheter PPPoE login has happened or not

If it won't sync where another modem will then either you need VLAN set or you don't try both options
Run the DV130 in router mode so you can see whats going on.
Once synced you can then either set bridge mode or use the DV130 as a single port router

Very basically the DV130 will sync with just setting the VDSL option and VLAN if needed
All the rest is routing or bridging

Does this 130 work on another vdsl connection?

Seems like there is an issue with that modem itself since its getting stuck in training.

Training would indicate it is seeing the dslam.
The fact that it picks up vdsl as adsl is concerning (the two are not backwards compatable on chorus gear)

Did you use standard firmware? You could try firmware v2 or v4.

No idea TBH, it was given to me by a friend a while back, dont think he even used it.  But yeah, after 5mins of it training, I gave up and put the old router back in place.

Might see if someone at work can take it home and try it if theyre on VDSL.
