so - I was on BigPipe, I have NOT disconnected my account.

I was informed by Chorus that someone will come tomorrow (Friday) to have the internet transfer over to Vodafone.

Around 4pm today, my fibre got disconnected.

Any idea why???

if i was to be cheeky, i'd say your error was "transfer over to vodafone"

Have you checked with Vodafone if the service went through early? chorus don't send out techs for service changes unless they are planning to do a new ont or something.

Seems odd that they'll send around a tech. With my move no tech was involved - my internet cut off at 6am and I changed the PPPoE username on my router to re-establish a connection with 2degrees a few minutes later.

Chourus wouldnt be doing that. Its happened to a friend, they sent chorus around for no good reason because the copper was already run back to the socket by the ONT, but they still sent them anyway to do the voice stuff.

ok this was sorted on Friday afternoon.

i don't really know why or what happen.

the change was from bigpipe to naked vodafone fiber.

i don't know what the Chorus guy did but they turn up and spent about 45mins. then it all runs fine again (i was not at home). they did NOT change the ONT.

as soon as it got disconnected on thursday, i did try just in case the transfer was done early, but nothing really works.

i contacted vodafone and they said the transfer over will be done on Friday and they quickly gave 100GB to my mobile plan. i set my surface pro to be the hotspot until this was fixed yesterday.

all in all happy how Vodafone handled it.

100GB for 7 days.... I don't even think I have used more than 10GB.

Btw I found the speed MUCH faster than BigPipe... I saved $627 by signing 24 months contract with Vodadone. So a sweet deal. (plus new router)

to quantify things here, you did change speed plans at the same time right?

100GB for 7 days is an insane amount, could be so easy to abuse that...

No same speed. Just the basic 100/20.

That is interesting.. in that case is this to a particular site? I'd expect your speedtests to have changed by maybe a mbit or 2 with the PPPoE -> IPoE transfer.

I had someone turn up on my door from Vodafone yesterday trying to get me onto their fibre service. I told him I was happy with what I had (although he did try and sell me on their service) but he eventually left.

I was going to ask him why they didn't employ enough (good) people in their call centres but I let it go.

@epr: So odd to hear someone say I am happy with vodafone.

Ye so far it has been great. I have been a BigPipe customer from early on but what they offer is really value for money (which BigPipe couldn't compete).

I found the call centre is also easy and straight forward to deal. I don't really have to explain much and within 5 minutes all sorted with free 100GB mobile data applied to my account on the spot. The guy even waited for me as I am wanting to know if my sharer/surface pro SIM will be using the same Data Allocation - and the answer was Yes.

So yes... I am happy so far.

How come your upload is 20 but your signature shows 48.70? Is that signature image form another connection?
