Vodafone deliver voice via the router/gateway. Spark deliver voice via the ONT voice ports - of which there is a cost to activate each port.
Personally, I prefer having the voice come from the ONT - one less thing for a customer to screw up in a self install situation.

Granted the the voice activation is a cost, it is a very small one. Perhaps it's not the only extra value though. Regardless of the $30 price difference, I know which ISP I would go with - and it's not the Red one!
Spark still do some annoying things. But at least, if you really have to, you can ring and actually get what you want sorted in a reasonable amount of time. Plus Spark have some nice add-ons like Spotify, Lightbox/Netflix etc.
