Hi There,

From my previous post, im looking at what services really benifit the cusotmer,
I have found out today that we will be able to offer IP-Eftpos machines on our network "uses IP Ethernet instead of Dailup"
is this a service that would say make a business compleatly move from a PSTN based Network to a full IP network?
your views on this would be helpfull.

I don't see why not. We've done a lot of testing with eftpos machines over VoIP and it has worked flawlessly.

Unless you have modems that need to dial out to connect with legacy systems, I don't see why a business can't move to VoIP completely.

It would be great if those IP based eftpos machines did not charge you a local call everytime a transaction goes through, like the current eftpos systems do which dial an 08 something number....

All the receiving company needs to do is have a VFX/DVX number and every eftpos call would be free.

I think the OP is looking for info on IP based EFTPOS - not just running a regular EFTPOS terminal over a VoIP line.

You really need to contact an EFTPOS provider for information as this can be a simple or very complex issue depending on exactly what you want to do. It's possible to hook most EFTPOS units up over a regular broadband connection with the addition of a NAC but as many companies are moving towards IP based solutions they are taking this a step further and using integrated software (such as EFTPOS NZ's PC EFTPOS solution) to incorporate this directly into the POS system. This obviously requires a lot more work but has plenty of advantages.

There really is no need to be using EFTPOS over a VoIP line as it's unnecessary.
