Hey guys,

I have developed a sever case of slow internet (down to about 0.5-1Mbps instead of my usual 10-12Mbps)

Could someone have a look at these stats from my Draytek Vigor 120 to see if they stack up?

Any reason why you are using these DNS servers?

No reason, can;t remember setting something in particular. What are they? And what should I use? (I am with slingshot)

Those DNS are outside NZ and will impact performance. Use the Slingshot defaults or 1.1.1.1 / 1.0.0.1 or 8.8.8.8

OK, changed the DNS, thanks. Hasn't helped much with the speed, though :-(

Have you tried an alternative modem?

How is the phoneline sounding? tried contacting your service provider?

looks like a pretty classical wet/corroded joint causing slow sync rates (and looks possibly like Frequent disconnections too?)

Here's your slow sync speeds here: 1.7Mbps down, .9 up. Do you have a master filter installed?

Can you/when are you getting fibre?

I take it the DV120 is in Bridge mode and the DNS addresses won't mean anything, as the DD-WRT router should be doing DNS

If not in bridge mode what is the DD-WRT doing ?

You look like you have a really high Attenuation 43db, here is your issue with connection sync me thinks
If you had higher sync speeds, look into the wiring coming into the modem, even outside where it comes into house.
VDSL master filter may help also (even on ADSL)

Thanks everyone.

Yeah so you guys agree that the Down Speed figure I get from the Vigor is consistent with the speed I am getting on SpeedTest.

Yes, the Draytek is in bridge mode, as far as I know. (best way to check?)

Bloody Slinghsot representative just told me their system tells then I am getting full 12Mbps to the model. I call BS.

Regarding the state of the Phone Line, funny story... Unsure if this is related but I currently have no phone line, no tone. I hear that's because 2degrees (new provider for fibre) asked Slingshot (current ADSL provider) to take over my number too early and they gave it up to quickly. I am now being told that 2degrees have my number and they don't seem keen to give it back to Slignshot considering I am getting Fibre soon...I mean we are still at the early stages of stupid shared driveway consent. Haven't had a scoping visit yet.

Regarding Master Filter, I have one installed for years at it has been very solid.

I have tried 2x different Draytek Vigor and same results.

I will go have a look at the cabling outside.

Currently dealing with a wife having Netflix withdrawals and that's no fun :-(

Thanks guys
