I couldn't find a Chorus Forum so please move this if needed thanks Mod's

I haven't seen any discussion on this so was wondering if it's all isp's or just mine

As you probably know, we provide your broadband services over a fibre connection we rent from Chorus. From 1 July 2018, Chorus will increase the cost of 100Mbps fibre connections by $2.30 per month. You can find more detail on this price increase here

In Christchurch you can double your speed for the same price

http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/BU1806/S00007/double-the-speed-for-the-same-price.htm

and yes I realize the moving costs probably outweigh the savings   :-p

Hmm yes I got the same from Slingshot and they seem to say it doesn't matter if you are on contract, we will still increase your price because we said so in the contract.

Terms and conditions normally allow such things. Not the first time this sort of thing has happened. E.g., the 99c monthly increase a year or two back.

I would have thought that as the numbers on the network escalate(as they are) the price should be dropping??????

Some UFB product prices are scheduled for a yearly increase as per the government deal that was done with the LFC's

The yearly price changes (some go up and some come down) were in the original CFH deal with Chorus and the LFCs. Prices started changing (from memory) in 2014 and continue right through to 2020 when the new regulatory framework will kick in.

If it's only a $2 increase, why is Slingshot charging $2.30?

It does seem they may be the only ones doing it out of protest? I wonder if they will bring out the bread this time.

Doesn't this strike anyone as wrong? Surely prices should change in response to market conditions? To allow prices to be controlled in this manner smacks of monopoly. Or is this just the current five-year plan?
