If so, I was interested in how the fibre laying process works (street level, not house).
We have a current Fibre date from chorus of December 2018.
A few weeks ago, a sign went up in the street saying work was starting.
A few days later, 3 blokes dig up a part of my front lawn, and I now have a tiny piece of pipe sticking out with a label on it.

Over all, I was very impressed with the speed that the whole thing was done.

It now seems that the gang who were doing my suburb have now finished.
So I’m wondering - what happens now?
I’ve not been able to find anything online about the process, and what goes into a Fibre roll out at street level.

Can anyone here explain?

Also, since I now have this little outlet at the end of my garden, is it really going to take another 5 months before I can get it hooked up to my house?

Takes much longer than that before fibre goes live after the actual fibre is put in the ground can take weeks to months

Normally in a month or two Chorus will drop flyers saying its ready for connection, your current ISP may do the same, and dont be surprised if other ISPs try also.

You then apply via your chosen ISP who will organise a scoping visit, and then install dates. The little tube attached to the pale green tag is simply a blown fibre micro duct, the installers will by some means or other get this to the side of your house and then flow the fibre from the street pit to a ETP on the side of your house, then install a ONT inside at a suitable location.

If your current phone line comes from the street to your house via a chorus duct then they will attempt to use that, failing that use one of many methods to get it to the house

Was months at my sisters place between digging and being able to order. Then that turned out to be a mess and they had to get someone else to fix the digging they did. Very slow and painful for someone that was stuck on adsl.

They may have done your street but they won't have finished the rest of the area they're working on. When it's done, you should be notified and you can place an order then.
