So the explain the full story.
My VDSL connection has always been quite good but recently I noticed my peak download speeds were capping out about 1 MB/s where as they usually capped out about 5-6 MB/s on local gaming servers etc.
This peaked my interested and checked my sync speeds in my modem and there I had noticed I was syncing ~15000 kb/s for download and ~800 kb/s for upload. I knew this was much lower than my usual sync which was ~40000-55000 kb/s (down) and ~ 12000-14000 kb/s (up). So I decided to turn power off to the modem for a restart, then the unthinkable happened... I could not sync.
I did a bunch of debugging measured the continuity of my incoming DSL cable from the jack to model, the internal jack terminals (not from outside). Everything seemed to be ok so I sourced a brand new modem from my friend for testing purpose.
I plugged in the new modem just with my laptop and without the remainder of the network and it was good, sync was ~28000 kb/s (down) and ~11000 kb/s (up), granted not as good as the previous numbers but still much better than before. Did a speed test everything was fine.
Went to hook the remaining computers back onto the network, then I ran the speedtest again and the numbers dropped dramatically, checked sync and it's dropped even lower than when I decided to restart the line... Hoping I would wake up and it the problem would be gone... nop... these are my current stats from the modem.

I've called my ISP and they've logged a fault and from their time graph, they said their graph represents what I said:
up to the 25th of July I was running ~45000 kb/s (down) and ~11000 kb/s (up)
After the 25th of July I was running ~12000 kb/s (down) and ~7000 kb/s (up)
and now I'm running at ~7000 kb/s (down) and ~400 kb/s (up).
They've logged a fault with Chorus who will probably attend the problem Monday or Tuesday.
So I'm very lucky I have internet rather than no sync but I wanted to get insight to see what the problem could be.
Who has experience sudden degradation in sync and what caused it?
Could be the incoming wiring? Or;
Usually something on the chorus network?
Can I do anything to test if it's on my side?
Any suggestions/recommendations welcomed, would like to get further insight.
Thanks in advanced.
